도시의 삶은 멈추지 않습니다. 쉴 새 없이 울리는 휴대폰 알림, 후진하는 자동차의 경고음, 빗속의 거리, 늦은 밤의 바와 이른 아침의 카페, 달리는 배달 오토바이, 커다란 종이컵에 담긴 커피. 이것들이 오늘 우리가 살아가는 풍경, “City of Dreams: Fragments of Reality” 입니다. 런던에서 온 여섯 작가들은 이러한 도시의 일상을 예술로 바꿔 보여줍니다. 시끄럽고 빠르게 움직이는 세상을 그들은 오히려 조용히 바라보고 기억하며 소박한 장면 속에서 또 다른 의미를 길어 올립니다. 이들의 공통된 시선은 ‘고요한 관찰’입니다. 화려한 장면을 좇기보다 일상에 숨어 있는 본질에 집중하고, 그림자와 고요함, 질감과 톤을 통해 흔히 지나칠 수 있는 순간들을 새롭게 드러냅니다. 탁자 위의 커피잔, 어스름한 복도, 등을 돌린 인물처럼 평범한 장면들이 작품 안에서는 특별한 의미를 띠며, ‘우연히 마주친 순간’이 새로운 이야기로 변모합니다.

Ping, ping the WhatsApp message sound, the beep of a reversing car, rain-drenched streets and waking dreams. Life in a metropolis never stops. Late night bars, early morning cafes, Deliveroo orders, a coffee in a giant white polystyrene cup. This is how we live now. The vision of six artists from London transforms this urban everyday into art. In a world saturated with immediacy and noise, they have turned inward, cultivating a quiet resistance through observation, memory, and form. They have built a language of resistance that sits quietly in silence through observation, memory, and form. Their shared language is poetic and painterly introspection. They encounter their environments not as backdrops, but as living material, extracting essence rather than image, revelation rather than spectacle. Through shadow and stillness, texture and tone, they gather fragments of the everyday and render them anew.
Sometimes their work emerges from deep excavation of the subconscious, sometimes through a process of drawing meaning from the seemingly mundane. The overlooked and ordinary become thresholds: a cup on a table, a corridor in twilight, a figure turned away. These moments are not staged; they are witnessed, and in the witnessing, transformed. Color and fragmentation are the true unifying themes of this exhibition. The world is indeed colorful and divided, reflecting the way we live now. These artists have captured the zeitgeist of our time in an understated, original way. Each conveys mood through carefully selected pigments sometimes more powerfully than through form, though form itself is never disregarded.
