Jian Yoo explores how invisible flows of time and emotion take form as structures through light, material, and space. Emotion is understood as the most delicate trace of existence and the most private record of time. Accumulated time, shifting emotions, and traces of experience continuously circulate, gathering, dispersing, and moving. These flows are not depicted but take form as structures that can be perceived through the senses. Formed through the accumulation of countless mother-of-pearl fragments, the surface holds both stillness and movement. As light and perception shift, the work becomes a site where time condenses and expands. Mother-of-pearl is a language that records light and reveals change. Carefully inscribed through this language of light, the surface exists as the structure in which invisible flows become visible.
류지안은 시간과 감정과 같은 보이지 않는 흐름이 빛, 물질, 공간을 통해 어떤 흔적과 구조로 드러나는지를 탐구한다. 작가에게 감정은 존재의 가장 섬세한 흔적이자 시간의 가장 사적인 기록이다. 축적된 시간과 변화하는 감정, 경험의 흔적은 끊임없이 순환하며 모이고 흩어지고 이동한다. 이러한 흐름은 재현되는 것이 아니라 감각적으로 인지되는 구조로 드러난다. 무수한 자개의 조각이 축적되어 형성된 표면은 정지와 움직임을 동시에 담고 있다. 빛과 인식의 변화에 따라 작업은 시간이 응축되고 확장되는 하나의 장으로 작동한다. 자개는 빛을 기록하고 변화를 드러내는 언어다. 빛의 언어로 촘촘히 써 내려간 표면은 보이지 않는 흐름이 가시화되는 구조 그 자체로 존재한다.
