세바스티안 에스페호(1990, 칠레 비냐 델 마르 출생)는 현재 런던을 기반으로 활동하는 칠레 출신의 작가로, 회화를 '주의 깊은 관찰'의 한 방식으로 탐구합니다. 그의 작업은 자연 세계와 생명체, 시각적 경험, 빛의 인식과 같은 주제들을 회화 언어를 통해 깊이 있게 다루며, 회화를 통해 우리가 보는 방식과 존재하는 방식을 사유합니다. 그는 2025년 사치 예이츠 펠로우십(Saatchi Yates Fellowship) 수상자로 선정되었으며, 같은 해 잭슨 아트 프라이즈(Jackson’s Art Prize) 파이널리스트 및 존 무어스 페인팅 프라이즈(John Moores Painting Prize) 숏리스트에도 이름을 올렸습니다. 칠레를 비롯해 영국, 미국, 한국, 대만 등 다양한 국가에서 활발히 전시 활동을 이어가고 있습니다.
Sebastián Espejo (b. 1990, Viña del Mar, Chile) is a Chilean artist based in London whose practice centers on painting as a form of attention. His work explores the language of painting in relation to the natural world, living organisms, visual experience, and the perception of light. He studied Visual Arts at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and has since exhibited widely across Chile, the UK, the USA, South Korea and Taiwan. Espejo has been awarded the Saatchi Yates Fellowship (2025) and was named a finalist for the Jackson’s Art Prize and shortlisted for the John Moores Prize in the same year. In 2025 he completed the Offsite Programme at Turps Art School. His work is presently included in a group presentation at Union Pacific, London, and he will present his debut solo exhibition in New York at Slip House in May 2026.
